Five Tour - Review

Hello everyone! Today I have a review as my stop on the tour for Five by Christie L. Rich
Book Blurb
Rayla Tate’s life is about to turn vertical…again. As if it wasn’t bad enough her mother disappeared under questionable circumstances leaving Rayla to be raised by her aunt in a horrendously small town. Her overprotective guardian is determined to ruin Rayla’s life. She refuses to let Rayla out of her sight or out of the state. Provincial living might be what her aunt demands of her purposely sheltered niece; but, Rayla has other ideas. In a desperate attempt to follow her dreams she flees the safety of her home and runs away to college with her best friend toward a bright future in the art world.

However, excitement over her newfound freedom turns into terror when she is chased by a mysterious stranger on her way to school. When his motorcycle suddenly morphs into a fire-breathing pegasus, Rayla questions her sanity. Worse, the man riding next to her stirs a burning desire in her soul she has never known or could have ever imagined. Using all the will she owns, she manages to resist the compulsion she feels; yet, as he disappears into the night, she is certain he hasn't gone far.

Rayla quickly dismisses the encounter to her overactive imagination. She is determined to settle into her new life, yet the images and feelings of that night still haunt her. To make matters worse, her aunt seems to be in on the act, insisting that Rayla will soon be hunted by a pack of fae lords for a power over the elements she never knew she possessed—a power that could change the world. Quicker than she ever thought possible, she finds herself surrounded by stunning men that all seem determined to win her heart. Why does she feel drawn to each one of them? More importantly, what dark power do they hold over her? Rayla must quickly learn to fend off these beautiful and seductive pursuers using whatever means necessary or find herself lost to the fae world forever.
My Review
Rayla wants to go away to college. She wants to get away from her aunt who has raised her. She deserves it to get away she believes. After her refuses to let her go she sneaks away to college with her best friend. When she gets there and reveals to her aunt what she has done, her aunt tells her she will now be hunted by the Fae Lords. Thinking her aunt is kidding she goes and does what she wants. Little does she know her aunt is right and she is an element that the Fae Lords will not stop hunting till one of them bonds with her. Now she must figure out how she can stop the bonding from happening even while she is falling for two different guys.

Rayla is not a character I enjoyed for a long time. At first she seemed like she had no backbone. She let everyone walk all over her and tell her what to do. At the end she did manage to turn this around somewhat. I also didn't like how she managed to fall for a guy so quick. Point in her favor she doesn't trust him all the way so she does use her head some. Another point is when she does learn she is an element she does try to find a way out of it. Cassie her best friend I didn't like at all. Worse best friend award goes to this chick. Yes she does help Rayla go to college but she never fails to throw it in her face how rich she is.She also gets extremely jealous of any male attention Rayla gets. In the end she is there for Rayla but for to much of the book she is a whiny brat for me to like her. The Fae Lords are yummy yes but right away I could tell which ones I liked and which ones I didn't.

This is a book that combines two different worlds in a great way. I enjoyed getting to see the Fae world and the myth behind the elements is very neat. You do have a love triangle well really more but two that the love is returned. I am pretty sure who I would pick but I will let you read and see who you would like best. The quick love may be hard to believe but once you remember they can trick people I can see how it would happen. The book does have a wonderful plot. The only thing I wish there was more of is realy inside Rayla's mind. I think that a little more building of her character would have helped a lot. If you want to read about some yummy men and an unusual tale try this one. I did enjoy it it just had a few things I didn't like.
