Synopsis
Trapped
outside her body, Anna sees and hears but cannot touch the one she longs to
hold. Anna has a secret: she can astrally
project out of her body. But when there's an accident and her classmate Taylor
gets into Anna's body, what was an exhilarating gift threatens to become a
terrifying reality. Anna and her best friend Rei form a plan to set things
right, but they don't anticipate the feelings that are beginning to grow
between them. Auracleby Gina Rosati is
an exciting, sensual novel that explores the relationship between body and
soul and the power of a single touch.
REVIEW:
Not only is the cover
gorgeous but the book hooked me from page one and didn’t let go until the last
page. So many times while reading this book I was holding my breath and I didn’t
even realize it.
Anna is just your
average seventeen year old girl who can astral project. She goes to all these
amazing places that she hopes to one day see in person. Her best friend Rei
doesn’t like her astral projecting. He is always worried something will happen
to her body while she is out of it. Anna always tells him he worries too much
until one day something does happen. Her classmate dies and takes over her
body. Anna and Rei have to find a way to get her body back, Taylor in the
light, and help a friend who is being accused of murdering Taylor. But what
happens to Anna and Rei during this shocks them both. Feelings come to light
that neither one expected.
While reading this I
was a little jealous of Anna and her astral projecting. I kept thinking of all
the amazing places she visits. Until she couldn’t get back into her body and
then I was so glad I don’t have this ability. When she couldn’t return I could
feel her frustration and anger and felt them right along with her. Rei is the
best friend we all have. He knows all of Anna’s faults and still loves her for
them even when he doesn’t agree with her. I really loved Rei and I could see so
much of my best friend in him. He is strong, smart, caring, and loves his
family and friends. Who doesn’t want a friend or boyfriend like that? When
their friendship starts to change and they have feelings for one another I
could feel the confusion and worry from both. But with time catching up with
them Anna wonders if she is the one going to end up in the light.
I was mesmerized by
the world and characters that Gina created. Being able to connect to both main
characters doesn’t happen often for me so when it does it leaves me excited and
turning the pages long into the night. With a book that is fresh in the YA
paranormal genre Gina starts off with a bang and leaves you wanting more. 5/5 bats
