Moon Coven Blog Tour

I am so excited to have K.B. Miller on our blog today and what better day then on Halloween!!! My favorite holiday as well as K.B.'s. So let's get this started.

Okay, so I'm supposed to tell you about me...
Seriously, if I wrote a book about myself it would take you 10 minutes to read and you would be bored stiff after the first 2! LOL

I'm a full-time writer, wife, and mother. Which basically means there's always a surplus of pencils lost somewhere in my hair, I usually have some place to be(I'm always late), I have a bad habit of calling family and friends random character's names (from my books), I talk to myself because no one else listens to me, and I can throw together a mean dinner for 8 with only 10 minutes notice and four ingredients in the pantry, LOL.

If you can't find me on the sidelines of my sons' football games, online, cooking, cleaning, shopping, at the local coffee joint or on the phone wandering aimlessly throughout my house then I've probably hidden myself in my "bat-cave" to write.

I have a positive attitude, and absolute fun-loving approach to life. That makes it easy for the voices in my head to take over on a regular basis providing endless hours of entertainment for my pleasure, and hopefully yours.

Random facts about me:

~My favorite color is pink
~I have a Bishon Frise puppy named Cullen Edward
~My favorite music is hip-hop
~I have a severe addiction to coffee. So much so, that those in my inner circle refuse to speak to me before caffeine O'clock! True Story

Enjoy the ride.
~K.B. xoxo

Books:
A family secret kept hidden has been exposed, and the consequences could be deadly.

After Lilyann Moon's beloved grandmother dies shrouded by a veil of mystery, she and her young family members are yanked from their completely normal lives and catapulted directly into the supernatural world of witchcraft. A world they know absolutely nothing about.

The town of Hampstead, Maryland has no idea of the monsters that lurk in their midst. Or, of the dangers they will face if the Moon Coven doesn't figure out how to embrace the magick within each of them, especially Lily.

She's suddenly up to her little pointy black hat in magickal problems. Destiny presented her with one more, and it's a big one - vampires.

The only bright spot in this nightmare was meeting Mason. But, is she in love with the enemy? Lilyann is in a race against time to save her town and coven. Will she survive the coming dangers, with her heart and neck intact?

It all comes down to this one night...

All Hallows Eve.

My Review:
This book has Witches, Vampires, Ghosts, and a family secret. All of which make for fun and page turning ride.
Lily Moon has just lost her grandmother and soon afterwards finds out she is a witch along with all her cousins. Not only that but they are the most powerful Coven around. They have to learn the craft fast before the vampires close in and kill them all. But with the help of the sexy vampire Mason they just might be able to handle their new destiny and prove to everyone why the Moon Coven is so powerful.
Kymberlee writes an amazing world that will have you falling in love with all the characters even the bad ones. The details in this book are so good. You are never lost with any of the characters and what they are going through. We are left with unanswered questions and I can't wait to see how they play out. I love all the characters especially Lily, Mason, and Izzy the cat. I can not wait for the next book to see what happens with the Coven and the Vampires.

Through first love, family secrets, destiny, self confidence, and everything that ties a strong family together. Compulsion will leave you wanting more. 5/5 Bats

Before Lilyann stepped into her destiny to lead the coven, there was another powerful Moon witch...her grandmother.
A teenage witch-to-be in Galway, Ireland, Leeny Moon was prepared to take her rightful place in the circle along side of her family. That was until she witnessed firsthand the forthcoming nightmares she would be expected to face, vampires.
The fight between good versus evil begins here...
Blessed Be~
An exclusive ebook novella of K.B. Miller's Moon Coven Series.
The Moon Coven Series fans asked for more of Granny Moon and I responded. This novella samples a small snippet from her youth. Enjoy~

My Review:
I loved this novella. Being able to see another side of Lenny before she became a kick butt Wiccan was great.

We get to meet her at sixteen right before she becomes member of the Moon Coven and see her struggle with becoming a witch and fighting for those she is suppose to protect. But one day everything changes when her sister is threatened. Lenny looks into herself and finds the courage she needs to stand up to the vampires and accept her place in the Coven.

I loved the little bit we earned about Lenny in Compulsions so when I heard there was going to be a novella about her I was so excited. And let me tell you K.B. did not disappoint me with. I had imagined Lenny has this strong kick butt witch all the time but just like Lily she had doubts. But when it mattered most Lenny found the courage she needed. I can see so much of Lily in Lenny. I can’t wait to read more and learn about Lenny has the series goes. 5/5 bats

Seventeen year old Lochlan Moon had been groomed his entire life to accept the torch that would eventually be handed to him and step into his destiny - to be the most powerful witch in almost five hundred years. He put his heart and soul into mastering a craft passed down through the generations of his ancestral bloodline.

Between the savage murder of a family member, and vanishing classmates, doubts that he'd kept buried began to resurface. Someone or something is on a monstrous killing spree in his home town of Hampstead. Lochlan is determined to help stop whatever it is.
All the while, his future within the family's circle teeters on a deadly precipice.
Will any of the witches survive to harness the magick within after this Harvest Moon?

Charleston Vampire Chronicles Blog Tour

L.A. Freed, author of The Charleston Vampire Chronicles, is a true renaissance woman and lives, works, and plays in Charleston, SC. She is employed full time and works nights at The Post and Courier. It's highly unlikely that she sleeps in a coffin during the day because she's too busy training dogs to compete in AKC, USDAA and CPE agility and obedience. She also dabbles in photography and art, and has won numerous awards for her work. In a past life she trained, showed and boarded horses. She is a life member of the AQHA and owns two Quarter Horse mares.

My heart slammed inside my chest as I fought him. My fear became anger; I knew I would die before I'd let him violate me. I squirmed beneath him and bucked violently, nearly knocking him off. He retaliated by driving his weight harder against me and shoving his knee into my belly. Vomit rose in my throat.
Cold pain pierced my neck, and I drew in a strangled gasp as I realized he must have a knife. Wet warmth slid across my throat. He pressed his face against me and locked his mouth over the source of my pain.
Warmth spread through me and grew into the heat of need. I found myself pushing into him as my fear dissolved. My heart slowed and matched each pull as he drew the very life out of me. Pounding. Pounding. Pounding. It was ecstasy, and I wanted it to go on forever. Then the sound of my heart grew faint, and he pulled away from me.
He lifted his head and turned to look at me. Blood colored his lips like the grease paint smile of a clown, and ran in a jagged line from the corner of his mouth to the tip of his chin where it hung in a small, clotted drip. He smiled. The sight of the small, sharp fangs shocked me back into fear. THIS IS DEATH.

My Review:
I had to no clue what to expect when I started reading Blood Thirst and WOW am I excited I did. I have no clue why I took so long to read this book.

Angela is on location for her job taking photos when she is attacked and left for dead. She wakes up in her car under water. Not knowing how she got there. She gets out and goes back to her hotel room but gets very ill. She gets a visitor the next day telling her he knows what she is going through and he can help. Angela dismisses him and tells him he is nuts. But Angela soon realizes that her mystery guest is telling the truth and if she doesn’t want to die she needs to feed from him and finish her transformation into a vampire. Angela decides that she doesn’t want to die so she goes to Elijah for help and she wants revenge on the vampire who attacked her. Elijah tells her she is no match for Matthew he is very old. But what Angela didn’t expect was the reason behind Matthew attacking her and the connection they have. Now she must decide if her revenge is worth it.

I loved this book so much. Angela is strong at every turn. She goes through so much during her transformation. The author really makes you feel it all right along with her. Elijah is so nice but he keeps some important things from Angela that annoyed me right along with her. Matthew took me longer to bond with but at times I loved him and other times I wanted to stake him myself. My favorite character is Angela’s dog Bong but I can’t really tell you much about him without spoiling him for you. But I will say I love that dog and would love to have him as my own.

If you are looking for a macabre, gore, darker type of vampire book then read Blood Thirst. Some of the scenes are not for the squeamish as L.A. writes graphic but it only adds to this story. I can not wait to read book two and see where this story goes. 5/5 Bats

A White So Red - Review

A White So Red By Krystle Jones

Book Blurb
Take back what is yours.

Seventeen-year-old Snow’s life changed forever the night her stepmother, the Queen, sent her huntsman to cut out her heart. Fleeing for her life, Snow runs to the Silver Forest, a place as dangerous as it is enchanting, and begins an adventure she could never have dreamed.

With no one at her side but a rowdy band of carnivorous dwarves and an arrogant, rogue prince who’s too handsome for his own good, Snow must confront the challenge that’s been laid before her: Kill the Queen, and take back the kingdom that should have been hers.

But if she is to succeed, Snow will have to tap into a powerful, ancient form of magic, one that may have been sleeping inside her all along.

My Review
This is a retelling of Snow White and I love it! Natalia and her sister Rose are no better than slaves after her father the King dies and leaves his new wife as Queen and ruler. Natalia tries her best to protect her little sister and often takes punishment meant for her. When she is took to the forest by the head huntsman she manages to escape before he could kill her. She finds herself around Dwarves who are carnivorous and very mean. There is a couple of them that is nice but only a few. Natalia knows better than to tell them her name so she tells them it's Snow. She agrees to keep their house clean and has to keep it. She meets Caspar who knows more about her than she may even know. He is handsome and tries his best to help her discover that she may just have magical powers she didn't know about. Hopefully enough to take back her kingdom.

First off the cover is so beautiful and the story inside matches it wonderfully. I loved Snow's character she doesn't lay down and tries to stay strong. You do get to see parts where she is scared but it doesn't stop her/ The Dwarves aren't the one you are used to they are so much better in this book. With the paranormal parts in it they fit perfect. Caspar hello amazing prince. He is so awesome you will want him for yourself. Why because not only is he handsome he doesn't try to hold Snow back. He tries to make her stronger. The Queen as always is evil but you get to see why and I love that part of the book. I didn't see it coming and it was a nice surprise. There is a whole lot more characters in this book some are human some are more paranormal creatures they are all fantastic.

I got right into this book as I love to see what authors do with fairy tales. This one didn't disappoint me at all. The action is always flowing at a good pace and you really get to know the characters. The love between Snow and Caspar is a believable one. It is not rushed and you can see it happening. The way Krystal Jones blends all the classic parts of the story and a new paranormal one is so great. I would recommend any one who loves a good fairy tale to pick this up. Believe me this book has it all and you will be right along side Snow on her journey.

Two and Twenty Dark Tales - Review

Two and Twenty Dark Tales : Dark Retellings of Mother Goose Rhymes

Book Blurb
In this anthology, 20 authors explore the dark and hidden meanings behind some of the most beloved Mother Goose nursery rhymes through short story retellings. The dark twists on classic tales range from exploring whether Jack truly fell or if Jill pushed him instead to why Humpty Dumpty, fragile and alone, sat atop so high of a wall. The authors include Nina Berry, Sarwat Chadda, Leigh Fallon, Gretchen McNeil, and Suzanne Young.

My Review
I received this book for a honest review from NetGalley. This is an anthology of a lot of great authors retelling Mother Goose Rhymes. Some of the authors who wrote a story for this book are Shannon Delaney, Suzanne Young, Gretchen McNeil, Nancy Holder, Suzanne Lazear, Leah Cypess and many more. I was going to make a note of each story what i liked about them but that just didn't happen. Why because I loved it so much I couldn't pull myself away to do so. I will say that almost all of the stories would get a 5 rating from me, some a 4 and maybe one 2 or 3. A few of the stories I enjoyed most are.

Clockwork by Leah Cypress the retelling of the mouse that ran up the clock. I love the twist on this story and how she kept the same feel for the rhyme but still made it her own.

Boys and Girls Come Out to Play by Angie Frazier is a wonderful story that I could picture being a longer book. I reread this story twice before moving on just because I enjoyed it so much.

Life in a Shoe by Heidi R. Kling is a fascinating tell of how kids are just raised to join an army or to make more kids. I love this remake of ole lady in the shoe.

Candlelight by Suzanne Lazear another favorite that tales how kids want to run away from unjust parents and what may happen to them when they do.

Tick Tock by Gretchen McNeil in true to her writing this is a wonderful tale of murder, babysitters and horrible children.

I could go on and on but lets just say I love this book and will soon get a print copy so I can have it on my shelf to reread as well. If you like retelling of older stories pick this up. The twist and turns are so amazing to read and you will never think of Mother Goose the same again. If Mother Goose and Tim Burton had a child some of these stories would be their love children. Lots of paranormal creatures and magical stories to be read in this anthology.

Chasers - Review

Chasers (Alone #1) by James Phelan

Book Blurb
Four Teenagers.
One Destroyed City.
Thousands of
Infected Predators.

Jesse is on a UN Youth Ambassadors camp in New York when his subway carriage is rocked by an explosion. Jesse and his three friends, Dave, Mini and Anna, crawl out from the wreckage to discover a city in chaos.

Streets are deserted. Buildings are in ruins. Worse, the only other survivors seem to be infected with a virus that turns them into horrifying predators...

Outnumbered. No sign of life. Just them. And you... ALONE.

My Review
I received this book from NetGalley for a honest review. Jesse and his friends, Dave Anna and Mini escape a subway car accident that leaves everyone else dead. When they get to the top side they find New York City a whole new place. Sky scrapers are falling and what people they see seem to be crazy for something to drink. They find a place to stay while they try to figure out what has happened and what is going on. Jesse knows he needs to leave but there is danger every where.

This is a little different from what I expected. You never really find out what happened to cause the change or really for sure what was going on. You mainly get to see what Jesse and his friends go through living in their hiding place. While this does get you to see more into Jesse head it also leaves you wanting to know what is going on. It does have a surprise or two that in a way I kinda guess before hand. It is very well written and nothing against the author on that. I just wanted to know more like what happened, why are the people left always thirsty and many more questions. This is the first book in the series and I will read the next one just to see if things get answered or not.

Mill's Folly - Review

Mill's Folly - A Journey With Evil
by P.A. Sirko

Book Blurb
Over centuries Lew Mills, a Grim Reaper, has strategically placed himself into human catastrophes to secure a high score against other Reapers in the game of death. But greed leads Mills to seek wealth and retirement in the year 1865. Abandoning the ill-fated paddle steamer Brother Jonathan in Crescent City California, he travels into the alien wilderness of Kentucky to find solace. Deadly consequences in Campbell County do not remove the demon from challenging a nemesis awaiting him in 1998, his great granddaughter. Spanning 147 years, this saga is set against a backdrop of doomed steamships, ex-slaves following the Civil War, thoroughbred farms, Churchill Downs, and deep sea diving.

My Review
Mill's Folly is a very interesting book. While reading it I got to travel back in time and back to the future. When a Grim Reaper thinks he has it all made and can retire to the wilds of Kentucky he soon finds he is wrong. Even though all the reapers have a score to keep to see who will be top dog so to say he is losing and wants to stay away from it all. He finds a new challenge in an unlikely form his. Great granddaughter years later in the future.
I really enjoy the passage of time in this book. I felt like I was underwater at times and at other times in the wilds. The author did a great job writing history and giving it a nice flair. The story of Lew Mill's trying his best to be the top reaper and what all he is willing to do is very intriguing. Be sure to read this for some one of a kind characters. If you like a little history in your stories be sure to pick this up. I know this may seem like a vague review I just don't want to give away the books secrets. I did enjoy it a lot and was thrilled to read it.

Night Thief Blog Tour

I have always loved to make up stories.  My first published work was The Wonders of Unicorn Creek in 6th grade.  The 9 page epic was published by my tiny elementary school.

Since then I’ve published short stories in anthologies like: Dead Souls, Ladies of Horror 2009, Hell Hath No Fury, and magazines like: Sinisteria, Horrorfind, Twilight Times, The Writers Hood, Savage Night, The Murder Hole, Behold and Shadowkeepzine.

My story ”Immortal Beloved” was a finalist for a Bram Stoker award, and my story “The Third King” won second place in Behold’s short story contest.

I’ve completed the first two novels in my Night Trilogy, and the first two novels in my new Moon Series.

After the fall of the Mayan civilization, Kane, an immortal Night Walker, has taken refuge in France for over 800 years. The modern world holds little interest for him until the night he meets the Golden Thief and is robbed of much more than his pocket watch.
Marguerite Rousseau is living a double life. By day she is the assistant to an eccentric French artist, Antoine Berjon, and by night she dons elegant evening gowns to woo French dignitaries before lifting their wallets.
Sparks ignite when Kane captures the thief, but Marguerite harbors a dark secret that could ruin them both.

My Review:
I loved this book but can you blame me. The cover is gorgeous and then you add a sexy vampire named Kane and I was hooked.
Kane is an immortal charged with looking out for humans even though he drinks blood he only drinks from those who would do harm. Marguerite has her own agenda she is know as the Le Voleur D’or, or the golden thief. She is stealing to make enough money to get away from her monster of master. Kane is intrigued by Rita so he sets up a plan to meet her at a party by wearing his finest jewelry for her to steal. But what Kane didn’t expect was to fall for her. Being away from her master for so long gets Marguerite in trouble and he abuses her. This infuriates Kane and he tells Rita he can protect her but he as to admit to her what he is and convince her he is not a monster.

I loved Marguerite so much. She is very strong and will do whatever it takes for her and her family to be safe. I admired her through the whole book. Kane is just sexy and you want to love him and have him love and protect you. The chemistry between them burns the pages it’s that HOT.

If you love sexy vampires and historical romance then get this novella. You will love Kane and the rest of the night walkers. 5/5 Bats

Q1~ When did you know you wanted to become a writer?  I actually wrote for fun for years and never thought about trying to get published until I met a palm reader who told me I was going to be a famous writer someday! LOL  Six months later I had my first novel written and my first short stories published...  I'm not famous yet, but I love being a published author! :)
Q2~ How did the idea of Night Series come to you?  After that visit to the palm reader, I wondered what I would write about.  I loved vampires, but I wanted a west coast vampire and they just didn't fit.  In the end, I researched the oldest culture in the Americas, and as I dug into the Mayan world, my Night Walkers grew until I had the trilogy planned out.

Q3~ Are any of your characters based off people you know? No.  There are bits and pieces of people I guess, but I don't intentionally write people I know into my stories...

Q4~ How many books will be in the series? 3 novels: Night Walker, Night Demon and Night Child...  And the Night Thief novella is a prequel to the trilogy.

Q5~ How do you over come writer’s block? Luckily I've never had that problem.  It's tougher some days to make myself write, but I get through it... Even if I have to chain myself to the keyboard! :)

Q6~ What is your writing process?  I start with an incident and I usually have an ending in mind....  The rest happens as I write.  It's like I'm reading along too, holding my breath to see what happens! LOL

Q7~ What is your favorite paranormal being?  Oh I have lots of favorites! LOL  But vampires, shifters and fae are probably my favorites...

Q8~ What was the first paranormal book you read? I read tons of Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Anne Rice so I'm not sure which book was first...  My first paranormal romance was Dark Fire by Christine Feehan... Very hot! :)

Q9~ Who are some of your favorite authors?  I've already named a few...  I also love Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, Jeri Smith-Ready, Angie Fox, Jackie Kessler, I'm sure I'm forgetting some too! :)

Q10~ Can you give us any hints about Night Demon?  Hmmm...  If you've read Night Walker, at the end you know someone has been waiting for Kate to become immortal "again"... And if you've read Night Thief, Kane told you a little bit about what happened the first time the Night Demon entered the world of man...  In Night Demon, it will take all of the Night Walkers to save the human race from her thirst because...  She's baaaaack! LOL

Q11~ Is there a writer or writers that inspire you?  Kelley Armstrong and Angie Fox were huge inspirations to me.  They both encouraged me to keep writing and keep pursuing publication.  I feel very blessed to know them! :)

Q12~ If you were stranded on a deserted island what character would you want with you and why?  Probably Calisto because I'd love to listen to him talk...  And his spriti animal is a raven so theorhetically he could fly away and find someone to rescue me...  LOL

Q13~ What would you do in a zombie apocalypse? RUN!!!!!  :)  Did you see the pictures of my Zombie 5K I ran in?  I'm ready! LOL

Q14~ What 3 people would you like to have dinner with and why?  Mozart, Ray Bradbury and Anne Rice...  Mozart because I've always been fascinated by his life and his music.  Ray Bradbury, because I would love to be able to see him one more time and tell him how much my life has changed because of his advice to me.  And Anne Rice, because she opened up the world of immortals to me in a dark, delicious, historical way that changed my reading habits forever... :)
