The Torn Wing

Today we have The Torn Wing Blog Tour. We are so excited and want to say Thank You to Jean Booknerd for setting this up and Kiki Hamilton for letting us read her book. Let's get started.
Kiki Hamilton is the author of THE FAERIE RING fantasy series and a YA contemporary novel entitled THE LAST DANCE which will be released Spring 2013. She believes in magic and the idea of hidden worlds co-existing with our own. Kiki lives near Seattle, though she dreams of living in London one day.
Synopsis:

London 1872 -

A bloody escape, a deadly threat, a shocking revelation...

As an orphan who stole the Queen's ring - only to find the ring was a reservoir that held a truce between the world of Faerie and the British Court - Tiki’s greatest fear suddenly becomes all too real: the fey have returned to London seeking revenge. As war escalates in the Otherworld, Queen Victoria’s youngest son, Prince Leopold, is attacked. In order to protect her family and those she loves, Tiki needs to know the meaning of an fáinne sí, the birthmark that winds around her wrist. But will she be brave enough to face the truth?

My Review:
With a gorgeous cover that draws you in and a book filled with history and fiction what is not to love.

Tiki and Rieker are on a quest to stop a war from starting between the Faerie and Human world. But with the Fae playing games and speaking in riddles they might run out of time to not only save themselves but everything they hold dear to themselves. But what neither one expects is for one faerie to be speaking the truth about Tiki’s past if only she can find the courage and strength she needs but with Reiker standing beside her all the way Tiki finds the truth about who she is and what she can do.

I love Tiki and at sixteen she has been through so much but all that does is make you love her strength even more. She will do anything to keep those she loves safe even when she herself is terrified. At times while reading this book I got so frustrated with Rieker and the secrets he is keeping. I felt like he didn’t trust Tiki completely but towards the end I understood why he was doing that. We get to see a whole new level to their relationship in this book and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the rest of the series. Larkin is her annoying and selfish in his book but when it really matters she comes through for Tiki and helps reveal secrets that had my mouth hanging open.

I love this book so much. Kiki takes us on a journey through the back alleys of London and mystical forests in Faerie. Filled with mystery, love, suspense, and finding one’s true destiny. This book will leave you begging for book three and the magical world filled with the history of London. 5/5 bats

  2. Been to London many times and personally I would not want to live there. I find many other areas of England vastly prettier and so much more interesting. I guess I am just not a big city girl.
Lovely concept for a book though. Reminds me of a girly version of Neil Gaimon's Neverwhere. (Well worth a read too!!) I am going to have to keep my eyes peeled for this and not just for me but my daughter who loves anything Fae Magic or Vampire!!
