Guardian - Review

Guardian ( Halflings #2) by Heather Burch

Book Blurb
Vigilance. The mission to safeguard Nikki Youngblood depends on the fragile alliance of two half-angel, half-human guardians, both struggling with intense feelings for the girl who has been assigned to their care. Mace, steadfast and deeply in love, wants to protect Nikki at all costs, while Raven's loyalty to Nikki finds him advocating for her independence and battling his own darker inclinations. At the same time, Nikki finds it harder and harder to choose between the two heavenly beings she may never have. Dangers intensify, and tensions between Mace and Raven flare as the purpose of their mission becomes clear. Can their defenses hold up to master manipulator Damon Vessler and the powerful secret he holds regarding Nikki's heritage? Can anyone protect Nikki from her true purpose and destiny?

My Review
I received this book from NetGalley and Zonderkidz for an honest review. Nikki Youngblood is still being protected by two Halflings. She has feelings for both Mace and Raven and tries her best to fight those feelings even as they try to figure out why Damon Vessler wants Nikki so bad and what he is up to. There may be more to Nikki than even she knows.

This is the second book in the Halflings series and it is just as good as the first book. Nikki is a character that you can actually like. Yes she does have that love triangle going on with Mace and Raven but it is not an annoying one. She wants to help as much as she can and sort out her feelings before she picks one of them if she even does. Mace just keeps showing her he loves her by trying to protect her from everything. Raven on the other hand protects her but lets her make her own decisions. Raven is also fighting those dark feelings he has growing inside him.

This book is a page turner from the get go. I like how we get to see other halfings interact with Nikki and how she grows closer to some of them. Something is always going on so your attention stays intact. The more I read about Mace and Raven the more I could see where Nikki would have a hard time picking between them. I have my pick of who I would be with but won't say just yet who it is. From train wrecks to altered horses this book is very entertaining. I couldn't believe some of the secrets that are revealed in this book.If you enjoy YA paranormal books with remarkable characters pick this series up and give it a try.
