The Immortal Rules Review

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)
by Julie Kagawa

Goodreads Blurb
"In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity."Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.

Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of "them." The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked--and given the ultimate choice. Die...or become one of the monsters.

Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.

Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend--a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.

But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what--and who--is worth dying for.

My Review
In this dystopian world the vampires rule, the humans are either hiding or a living food tray for the vampires. Humans must be Registered in order to get food and survive. Some decide they don't want to be Registered and they would rather scrounge for their survival. Allison Sekemoto is one of the Unregistered and hides out with a group of people just like her. She hates the Vamps and everything about them. One night while hunting for supplies a rapid vampire changes her life and she has to make a hard decision. The vampires are after her now because they are slowly dying out and more rapid vampires are emerging. Allison is now on the run and comes across a human group hunting for Eden. Eden is supposed to hold the cure for vampires and be a safe place. She falls in love with a human boy and tries to hide what she is and pass for human. She may end up having to make more hard decisions.

Yes here is a book you won't be able to put down. Combining Dystopion and vampires it is a masterfully written book and I love the world Julie Kagawa made. Allison is a strong character to begin with but she becomes even more so as the book progresses. Faced with all she is she never gives up and tries to live as right as she can. The love she finds is so sweet you wish for the best even when you know it may not turn out like you want. Your adrenalin is always pumping as you turn page after page waiting to see what happens next. Recommended for Dystopion, Vampire, Action or love fans. I hope the next book comes out soon.
