Night Marchers Series Review

Night Marchers by Rebecca Gober

Goodreads Blurb
“NEVER, EVER lock eyes with a Night Marcher!” Everyone in Hawaii has heard this warning, except for seventeen-year-old Emma Townsend that is. For most Hawaiians know that looking into the eyes of Night Marcher can strike a curse that will end in death or eternal servitude.

Even though her father, who is a paranormal investigator, solely raised Emma, she has little experience in the realm of the supernatural. When she is forced to move with her father to Hawaii, only months before her graduation, Emma finds that her world as she knows it, is shaken when she starts seeing the unexplainable: fire balls in the distance, beating drums in the middle of nowhere and strangers who vanish into thin air. Then one day when she has a run in with a procession of Night Marchers, ancient Hawaiian spirits wandering from their burial grounds to their locations of battles past, Emma has no choice but to believe that the unbelievable does exist.

Now Emma must go on the run with the help of a mysterious stranger, as they seek out how to free Emma from the curse of a Night Marcher, who will stop at nothing to get her soul.

My Review
I received this book from the authors for a honest review. Emma moves to Hawaii with her father so he could work on a new paranormal case as he is a paranormal investigator. She has for the most part been kept away from her dad's job. She meets Tristan and they soon become close friends and even start to fall for each other. She keeps seeing a stranger watching her and later meets hims one night while she was out. She has been told to keep in doors at night but never why. She finds out when she locks eyes with a Night Marcher. They are sole takers and now it is up to Kai the handsome stranger to save her.

I really enjoyed this story. It is set in a beautiful place and has a original plot to it. I haven't read many books about soul takers so it is a nice refreshing change. The characters are all good. Emma tries to stay strong through all she gets into. Kai is like the mystery hot boy who you know is bad for you but you want any way. Tristan I love!! I know he isn't the main guy character but I believe he is my favorite. This boy is so sweet and lovable even if he has a past. When you meet the Menehunes you will instantly like them I did. They bring a great deal of love, comedy and so much more to the story. Their names cracked me up.

This book keeps a nice steady pace all the way. It never lags and it lets you get a great feel for what is going on. The background of the Night Marchers and Kai is introduced very nicely. You get plenty of action and surprise as Kao is brought into the story. He is Kai's brother and the Night Marcher after Emma's sole. I wasn't expecting the book to end the way it did. It was a shock and I am very glad I have the next one to read. Wanting something different and great to read? try the Night Marchers.

Redemption (Night Marchers #2)

Goodreads Blurb
He would endure a thousand deaths for her, but would she let him? Torn between two men that love her, Emma Townsend is forced to make choices no seventeen-year-old should ever be forced to make. With her friends at her side, Emma embarks on an adventure full of danger, deceit and betrayal as she tries to redeem Kai, the man who made the ultimate sacrifice for her. When Emma discovers that setting a Night Marcher free is no easy task, she is forced to make a very unlikely alliance. How far will Emma be willing to go to save Kai, and will she be able to do so before it's too late?

My Review

I received a copy of this book from the authors for a honest review. Emma is back after being sent back home to live. She and her best friend sneak back to Hawaii. Tristan is in on helping them sneak around. The reason she is back is simple. She wants to save Kai the man she loves from the Night Marchers just as he once saved her. She finds help in an unusual person Kao. Kai's brother and the reason Kai now needs help. She doesn't fully trust him because he seems to have a different plan in mind.

I enjoyed Redemption even more than I did Night Marchers. The plot is thicker and you really see how much Emma will go through to help Kai and how much she loves him. Kaylee Emma's best friend plays a bigger part in this book and I love her. She is so loyal to Emma and tries her best to help her. There is lots more action in Redemption as even more is revealed about Kai and Kao's past. You find out even more about the Night Marchers and what it is like for them. It is hard to review this series without spoiler so I will just say if your looking for a love story with action, a paranormal soul takers, a love that tries to overcome all odds and friendship you must read this series. I want more and more of these great authors writing. I eagerly look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
